Special Events

Community events and fundraisers offer volunteer opportunities for individuals and groups to meet new people, provide one-time or project-oriented support, be creative and help fulfill Kansas City Hospice & Palliative Care’s mission to reach out to the community.

Events include the annual Circle of Lights memorial event in May, annual fundraisers such as the Idiots' Open Golf Tournament in February and the Georgia Dalton golf tournament in September, and educational events. Volunteers help in a variety of ways, which include:
  • Being part of an event planning committee
  • Greeting guests.
  • Helping with registration.
  • Displaying auction items.
  • Taking payments for items sold.
  • Setting up or cleaning up.

Unique opportunities available for Camp Carousel, a weekend camp for grieving families, include baking snacks in advance for campers and collecting items and creating goodie bags for campers. Trained massage therapists and art therapists can work with families at the camp.

Training is provided as needed. If you want to help make our events successful as a volunteer, fill out our interest form online and receive more information.
