How to Make a Referral

To refer a patient to any of Kansas City Hospice & Palliative Care’s programs, please call the intake department at 816-276-2700.

The conversation about a hospice referral is difficult for many families. Here are some thoughts that may be helpful to some families:
  • Hospice’s highest priority is your comfort and quality of life.
  • A recent study shows that patients on hospice actually live longer than similar patients who don’t receive hospice care.
  • Sometimes hospice care helps stabilize patients and they are discharged from hospice.
A staff member from Kansas City Hospice & Palliative Care can visit the patient and family at home, a nursing home, hospital or wherever is convenient to provide information and an assessment to see how our programs could help. There is no charge or obligation for an information visit.
